22-Storey Mixed-Use Building Proposed for Lakeshore Rd, Public Meeting July 15

A 22-storey mixed-use building is proposed for 2076 Old Lakeshore Rd, currently occupied by the Marquis Lakeside Inn. The developer, Darko Vrancich, has successfully built a hotel nearby. However, previous proposals for the site faced hurdles due to parking issues and proximity to the lake.

Vrancich's company, 959025 Ontario Inc., will host an online pre-application community meeting on July 15, 2025, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. via Zoom. The proposed building includes 154 hotel suites and 46 residential units, extending the waterfront trail. However, it may face restrictions due to 'top of bank' rules regarding proximity to the lake edge, similar to previous proposals in the area.

Vrancich has a history of development in the area. He successfully built a hotel west of Emmas Back Porch along the waterfront. However, a proposed 35-storey development at the foot of Brant Street faced delays due to Ontario Land Tribunal technicalities.

The proposed 22-storey mixed-use building at 2076 Old Lakeshore Rd aims to include hotel suites, residential units, and extend the waterfront trail. However, it may face restrictions due to proximity to the lake and previous development challenges in the area. The public is invited to learn more and provide input at the virtual meeting on July 15, 2025.
