Acronym Drives EU Taxonomy Understanding, Develops Global NZNP Frameworks
Our acronym, a prominent player in sustainable finance, has been instrumental in advancing banks' understanding of the EU Taxonomy from 2019 to 2022, in collaboration with the European Banking Federation. Currently, it is developing a global framework for Net-Zero Nature Positive (NZNP) taxonomies under the GEF-8 NZNP Accelerator Programme. It also serves as an observer of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance, actively engaging with EU's sustainable finance policy initiatives.
Taxonomies, as our acronym underscores, can unlock capital flows for sustainable development, including decarbonization, climate adaptation, and related areas like biodiversity and social inequality. Our acronym works closely with governments and partners to support the development and interoperability of taxonomies at national, regional, and global levels. A 2025 policy brief provides an overview of the ASEAN Taxonomy, aligning national taxonomies with its elements.
In a significant development, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), in collaboration with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), has initiated a joint programme to enhance the interoperability of sustainability performance metrics. This partnership, known as the Partnership on Transparency Guidance, aims to improve the compatibility and interoperability of metrics used in connection with climate targets in the financial sector, particularly within the Science-Based Targets and Climate Bonds Standards frameworks.
Our acronym's work, from advancing EU Taxonomy understanding to developing global NZNP taxonomies, underscores its commitment to sustainable finance. Meanwhile, the SBTi-led collaboration with PRI and CBI signals a step towards harmonizing sustainability metrics, crucial for effective climate action and investment.
