AGI appoints a new head for investments, who will now manage equity shares in a systematic manner.

Michael Denger has been appointed as the investment chief for the Systematic Equity division at AGI, effective from August 2025. Denger, who was previously the Global Head of Systematic Equity and a founding member of the global Systematic Equity team, has been instrumental in driving the division’s strategy and development at AGI.

Denger's extensive leadership within systematic investment strategies at AllianzGI reflects his deep expertise in quantitative and algorithm-driven equity investing. This positions him perfectly to lead the Systematic Equity division.

Michael Heldmann, who has been a member of the Systematic Equity team at AGI for over 14 years, will continue to serve as a portfolio manager in his new role. He has been responsible for U.S. equities at AGI since 2015 and was appointed as the lead investment chief for the in-house "Best-Styles-US" strategies in 2018. Heldmann will assume the responsibilities of Benedikt Henne and Klaus Teloeken, who are retiring within the coming year.

Heldmann's work history at AGI, including his roles in U.S. equities and "Best-Styles" strategies for emerging markets and European equities, is not mentioned in this announcement. However, it is worth noting that he has previously worked at the Geneva-based CERN research center, where his work was focused on particle physics research.

Rohit Ramesh, who currently holds the position of vice-chief in the U.S. strategies area at AGI, will take over the U.S. strategies from Michael Heldmann. The management change at AGI will not affect the equity investment process.

Virginie Maisonneuve, the global equity chief of AGI, to whom Michael Heldmann will report, is not mentioned in this press release. The appointment of Michael Denger as the investment chief for the Systematic Equity division at AGI is consistent with the company’s press releases and leadership announcements as of mid-2025.
