Aldi Kicks Off Early Christmas Price War, Promising Cheapest Turkeys and Gammon
Aldi has kicked off the Christmas price war early, promising to be the cheapest for turkey and gammon. The discount supermarket aims to help consumers save money during the festive season.
From December 19 to December 23, Aldi will match the lowest prices of its major rivals, including Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Co-op, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Ocado, and Iceland, for a range of Christmas dinner centrepieces like turkeys, gammon, and salmon. This move comes as gold prices are expected to soar by 5.7% by the end of the year.
Last year, supermarkets slashed prices of Christmas vegetables to as low as 8p per bag, with Asda and Aldi leading the price war. Aldi's price match guarantee excludes some products, such as the Ultimate British Free-Range Whole Turkey and British Roly Poly Bronze Free-Range Whole Turkey. To further help shoppers save, Aldi has introduced over 150 new products in its Christmas range this year, including the Specially Selected Raspberry and Pistachio Yule Log and Lobster Mac & Cheese.
Aldi's early Christmas price war promises to make turkey and gammon more affordable. By matching its rivals' prices and offering a wide range of new products, Aldi aims to help consumers save money during the festive season, despite expected price increases in food and drink.
