On June 30, 2025, the annual Entrepreneur of the Year in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern awards ceremony was held at Schützenhaus Grabow, with Dr. Wolfgang Blank, Minister for Economy, Infrastructure, Tourism, and Labor of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, presenting the awards. The event recognised outstanding entrepreneurial achievements across four categories, with more than 75 companies from all over the region participating.

The winners in each category were as follows: Nico Langhans triumphed in the Sustainability category for his company, Thermowhite NordOst, which recycles old polystyrene and produces new insulation material for construction and private use. In the Company Development category, emano Kunststofftechnik GmbH from Teterow took the prize, known for the production of hydrogen tanks and expansion of their Teterow location over the years.

Meanwhile, in the Services category, Mareen Buchholz was honoured for her outpatient care service, palliative care station, and apartments and care groups for people in need of care in Grimmen. With over 120 customers and around 60 employees, her company provides essential services to the community. Ulrich Timm secured his success in the Securing Skilled Workers and Integration category due to his company's consistent top placements in the state carpentry competition with apprentice journeyman's pieces.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Nicole Endlich received a special prize for her successful transfer of scientific findings into the economy. She developed a method to detect changes in the kidney more quickly and easily, which has significant implications for the healthcare industry.

Stephan Rodewald and Christian Karius reached the final with their bag and backpack manufacturer Red Rebane, while the butcher shop Pistol Prime BBQ from Roggentin near Rostock and August Hildebrandt GmbH from Schwerin were finalists in the Company Development category.

Dr. Wolfgang Blank praised the award winners for demonstrating responsible business, securing skilled workers, and sustainable action in the country. Krister Hennige, President of the IHK Neubrandenburg, advocated for the economic leaders in MV, stating that they are needed more than ever to shape things with their own strength, passion, and impact.

The competition was organised by the Ministry of Economics in collaboration with the East German Savings Bank Association, the Chambers of Crafts, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, and the Association of Business Associations MV. The jury, consisting of representatives from these organisations, decided on the awards.

Further details about the winners and their main achievements can be found through official Mecklenburg-Vorpommern government or Wirtschaftsministerium (Ministry of Economy) releases or local news outlets post-June 2025.

In the presented awards ceremony, Ulrich Timm's company secured success in the Securing Skilled Workers and Integration category, due to his company's consistent top placements in the state carpentry competition with apprentice journeyman's pieces. Additionally, Nico Langhans, an entrepreneur in the small-business sector, triumphed in the Sustainability category for his company, Thermowhite NordOst, which recycles old polystyrene and produces new insulation material for construction and private use, demonstrating a strong commitment to finance and environmental sustainability.
