According to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), there's been a whopping 14% surge in public transport usage during this year's Eid Al-Adha celebration, an impressive 7.577 million passengers hopping on board across different modes of travel!
From the metro and buses to boats, taxis, trams, and shared rides, Dubai's integrated transit network is truly the MVP during these peak periods. As it turns out, the metro emerged as the undisputed champion, clocking in an impressive 2.786 million passengers on the Red and Green Lines alone!
Public buses weren't far behind, carrying a solid 1.663 million riders, while marine transport edged out the competition with 307,684 passengers. Taxis and the tram also made significant contributions to the transport network, with 2.196 million and 119,917 passengers, respectively. The affordability and convenience of shared transportation services didn't go unnoticed either, attracting no less than 504,159 riders.
The RTA's jaw-dropping figures clearly show that Dubai is investing big-time in efficient mobility solutions, able to meet the transport needs of both city dwellers and holiday visitors like a (tractor) beach bike!
