In the vibrant city of Krasnodar, Russia, a significant number of residents are seeking summer part-time jobs to supplement their income. According to recent surveys, approximately 19% of the city's residents engage in summer employment every year.

One of the most popular sectors for summer part-time jobs is English tutoring and childcare, with roles such as private tutoring and nanny positions in high demand. These jobs often offer flexible part-time schedules during the summer months (July to August) and hourly wages starting from around 5000 Rubles per hour.

The demand for native English-speaking tutors and nannies is particularly strong, as these roles often involve interactive language teaching combined with childcare duties. Other language tutor roles, such as French, Italian, and Spanish, occasionally appear, but English tutoring jobs are more frequently advertised.

Regarding wages, there is no recent data available on the current desired minimum wage (MROT) in Krasnodar compared to the official minimum wage in the Krasnodar Krai. However, typical pay for part-time English tutoring positions suggests higher earnings than the official minimum wage in the region, indicating a gap between desired earnings for skilled part-time work and the current minimum wage.

Apart from English tutoring, agricultural work, service sector jobs, retail work, and courier jobs are also popular choices among residents seeking summer part-time employment. Freelance work, such as design and programming, is the most appealing format for summer part-time jobs, chosen by 30% of respondents.

Interestingly, more than half (66%) of the surveyed residents in Krasnodar Krai are considering additional seasonal income, and 44% of residents already have experience with summer part-time jobs.

Despite the increase in the official minimum wage in the Krasnodar Krai by approximately 4,200 rubles since September 2024, it remains significantly lower than the desired minimum wage (MROT) in Krasnodar, which has remained constant at 55,300 rubles since January 2025. The gap between the two stands at a substantial 31,738 rubles.

As the demand for summer part-time jobs continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how the labour market in Krasnodar Krai evolves to meet these needs and bridge the gap between the desired minimum wage and the current official minimum wage.

In light of the growing demand for summer part-time jobs, some residents in Krasnodar are exploring opportunities in personal-finance sectors, particularly English tutoring, given its popularity and higher-than-average wages. This trend signals a potential shift towards lifestyle choices that prioritize income growth, mixing English teaching with childcare duties, as they offer a flexible schedule and relatively lucrative finance options compared to the official minimum wage in the region.
