Auto Industry Updates: Geotab, C2A, Deloitte, NOVOSENSE, Soracom, and Panasonic in Focus
In a significant move towards a greener and more secure future, several industry leaders have announced new solutions aimed at decarbonizing, improving cost management, and enhancing performance in the transportation sector.
Deloitte, a globally recognised consulting firm, is bringing its industry-proven expertise to software implementation projects for a comprehensive solution around Software Defined Vehicles (SDV). The service portfolio, tailored to the automotive industry, includes Management Systems Advisory, Governance Structures and Processes, and Managed Services. Deloitte is also focusing on achieving compliance with critical regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act, UN R155, and others, which mandate stringent cybersecurity measures for vehicles.
Geotab Inc., a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, unveiled a suite of data-driven sustainability solutions at Mobility Connect in Milan. The company's latest offerings focus on helping fleets measure, manage, and reduce their carbon emissions, comply with evolving regulations like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and make informed, data-driven decisions to reduce Scope 1 emissions.
Geotab's solutions include CO2 Monitoring and Reporting, Fuel Tracking and Optimization, Fleet Rightsizing, EV Fleet Management and Suitability Assessments, Data-Backed Compliance and Insights, and Seamless Integration. The platform offers a comprehensive approach that helps fleets track their CO2 emissions in real time, identify high-emission vehicles or inefficient behaviors, monitor fuel usage, and optimize fleet composition, among other benefits.
In addition, Geotab's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report automates the calculation of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2-eq) for greenhouse gas emissions from fleet vehicles. The Geotab Sustainability Center provides actionable insights for emissions reduction, idling reduction, and electrification.
NOVOSENSE, a company specialising in automotive sensors, has introduced a range of temperature sensors and a temperature and humidity sensor designed for precision and low power use in automotive applications. The company also launched a Current Sensor that handles continuous primary currents up to 100A with low resistance, making it ideal for high-voltage automotive applications.
Panasonic Automotive Systems has expanded its VERZEUSETM automotive cybersecurity series to cover every phase of a vehicle's lifecycle, improving efficiency and standardizing security measures. Key innovations in the series include VERZEUSETM for TARA (Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment), which automates threat analysis in the development stage, and VERZEUSETM for Virtualization Extensions Type-3, a containerized security solution that safeguards in-vehicle software against cyberattacks in virtualized environments.
C2A Security, a company focused on automotive cybersecurity, announced its EVSec DevSecOps Platform, which automates cybersecurity and enables cross-functional sharing and collaboration between teams, customers, and supply chains. The company also announced a strategic alliance with Deloitte Germany to help clients meet cybersecurity demands at scale.
In other developments, Master & Dynamic is collaborating with Karma Automotive to design in-cabin audio environments and provide wireless headphones for the 3 Generation Karma Revero and upcoming Karma Kaveya super-coupe. Karma Revero drivers can now download a proprietary equalization package, Tune, to enhance the in-vehicle audio experience with Master & Dynamic's signature sound.
A Geotab survey found that the majority of fleet managers believe their organization will meet emission targets on time or ahead of deadline. The solutions aim to address the challenges and opportunities in the automotive industry, supporting the transition to a more sustainable and secure future.
