Automaker Giants Toyota and Hyundai issue recalls affecting over 1.1 million vehicles due to issues with seat belts and panel displays.
In a recent development, Toyota and Hyundai have announced separate recalls for various models due to different safety concerns.
Toyota is recalling 591,377 vehicles, including the 2023-2024 Venza, RAV 4 Prime, RAV 4, GR Corolla and Crown; 2024-2025 Lexus TX and LS, Toyota Tacoma, and Grand Highlander; 2025 Lexus RX, Toyota Crown Signia, Camry, RAV 4 plug-in hybrid, and 4 Runner. The recall is due to an issue with the instrument panel display, which may cause critical information such as vehicle speed, brake system, and tire pressure warning lights to fail. This could potentially lead to crashes and injuries.
Owners can contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331 for more information about the recall. For plug-in hybrid vehicles, dealers will replace the panel display or update the software, free of charge. For non-plug-in hybrid vehicles, dealers will update the instrument panel software, also free of charge. Toyota's recall numbers are 25TB08 and 25TA08.
Lexus' recall numbers for the same issue are 25LB05 and 25LA05.
On the other hand, Hyundai is recalling 568,580 Palisade SUVs due to a seat belt buckle issue. This problem may cause the seat belt to fail to properly restrain passengers in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 for more information about the recall.
The authorized Hyundai service center or certified Hyundai technicians are responsible for repairing the seat belts in the affected Palisade SUVs. Passengers are advised to insert the seat belt firmly into the buckle with a quick and direct motion, pulling on the belt to ensure it is fully secured until the issue is fixed.
It is important to note that this recall is not related to Toyota, Lexus, or any other brands mentioned in previous recalls. Owners can search for their vehicle identification number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov to check if their vehicle is part of the recall.
Hyundai's recall number for this issue is 283. The Hyundai recall does not involve the issue with instrument panel displays mentioned in the Toyota recall.
While Hyundai has not provided specific details about the vehicles being recalled, they assure customers that they are working diligently to address the issue and ensure the safety of their drivers and passengers.
Both Toyota and Hyundai are committed to addressing these issues promptly and ensuring the safety of their customers. It is always advisable for owners to stay informed and take necessary actions to ensure their vehicles are safe to drive.
