Bensberg's Ommerbornstraße to Get Major Upgrade in Late 2025
Residents of Bensberg can expect significant improvements to Ommerbornstraße starting in late 2025. The state treasury of North Rhine-Westphalia has fully covered the costs, relieving local property owners from any fees. The project, set to begin on October 6, will see the street resurfaced and upgraded with modern materials.
The renovation will use asphalt, with a lighter variant for the top layer to reduce temperatures and enhance night visibility. Sidewalks at house numbers 14 and 64 will be widened for better accessibility. A fine-grained material will be employed to reduce noise emissions and pollution. Defective drainage shafts will be repaired, and existing covers and street inlets will be replaced. The work is divided into three phases, with an estimated completion time of 12 to 15 weeks.
Due to the street's narrow width, a full closure will be required. However, traffic will be released once each section is completed. Residents will not be charged any road construction contributions for this project.
The new pavement on Ommerbornstraße, set to begin on October 6, 2025, will not only improve the street's appearance but also reduce summer temperatures and decrease noise levels, making it a more comfortable and safer environment for residents.
