Berlin Visit to Address Concerns and Address Requirements
Headline: Stephan Müller Resigns as Spokesperson of Citizens' Initiative Unsynn in Bispingen
In a surprising turn of events, Stephan Müller, the long-standing spokesperson for the Citizens' Initiative Unsynn in Bispingen, has announced his resignation due to internal disagreements and a desire to focus on personal matters.
Müller, who has been fighting for the expansion of the existing line between Hamburg and Hannover and against the new construction of the ICE long-distance route for eight years, has also criticised DB Netz AG for providing incorrect information in previous procedures.
Despite his resignation, Müller has secured Lara Abels from Hützel as a supporter for social media work. This move is aimed at maintaining a strong online presence for the citizens' initiative.
The news of Müller's resignation has been met with disappointment, with Christian Deppner of the Citizens' Initiative X through Y in the Municipality of Brackel describing it as a catastrophe.
In a bid to gather public support, Müller has urged the council and municipality to organise a public information event for citizens, citing the municipality of Seevetal as a model. He has also called for visible and audible citizen protest against the potential new railway line, particularly if it were to pass through the Horstfeld industrial area in Bispingen, a successful industrial area.
The chairman of the Federal Transport Committee, Udo Schiefner (SPD), is visiting Schumacher's Kartcenter in Bispingen on July 11 to discuss concerns about Deutsche Bahn's plans for a new ICE long-distance route. Schiefner's visit follows a hastily arranged meeting with local representatives in early May, which Mayor Dr. Jens Bülthuis stated has fueled his hopes that the visit could increase the chances of preventing a new route through Bispingen.
As the Planungsbeschleunigungsgesetz, which aims to facilitate and speed up infrastructure projects of outstanding interest, is due to be decided in the Bundestag in the fall, Müller realistically expects that the Bundestag will deal with the consultations on the route variants, including a previously unnamed preferred variant, in the first half of 2024.
With Müller's resignation, the search for a successor is on. However, Müller has expressed his disappointment at not having found a successor, leaving the future of the citizens' initiative uncertain.
The resignation of Stephan Müller marks a significant turning point in the fight against the new ICE long-distance route in Bispingen. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the citizens' initiative will continue their efforts to ensure the preservation of their town.
