In a recent development, Thomas Buhck has been elected as the new President of the Industry and Commerce Chamber (IHK) of Lübeck, Germany. Buhck, the managing partner of the Buhck Group - an environmental service provider with over 1,400 employees at more than 20 locations in Northern Germany - assumed office without opposition, succeeding the late Hagen Goldbeck, who passed away in April.

Addressing the pressing issues facing the region, Buhck identified the transportation infrastructure in Schleswig-Holstein as the most significant challenge. He emphasized the need for accelerated planning by politics in relation to this critical area, particularly focusing on the hinterland connection to the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel.

Digitalization of the economy is another urgent issue that Buhck has highlighted. He recognizes the importance of securing IT and energy infrastructure as a cornerstone of digital progress.

In addition to these concerns, Buhck has made the strengthening of entrepreneurship a priority. He has been actively involved in the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce on a voluntary basis since 1998 and has been a member of its full assembly. The Chamber, located in Lübeck, boasts a full assembly of members, reflecting the vibrant business community it represents.
