Rochester Regional Transit Service (RTS) Buses to Undergo Refurbishment by Complete Coach Works (CCW)

The Rochester Regional Transit Service (RTS) has awarded Complete Coach Works (CCW) a contract for the refurbishment of its diesel bus fleet. This project marks CCW's continued commitment to maintaining and updating transit fleets to extend vehicle life and improve service quality.

According to James Carson, CCW's Regional Sales Representative, the refurbishment project aligns with RTS's commitment to sustainability and fiscal responsibility. The work will be carried out at CCW's Riverside, California, facility.

The contract includes the refurbishment of five specific bus models, the New Flyer D-40LF. The buses to be refurbished are 40-foot diesel buses. To ensure passenger comfort and fleet reliability, the buses will receive a series of upgrades.

These upgrades include the installation of Cummins ReCon diesel engines, ZF transmission remanufacturing and installation, and A/C system servicing, including filter replacement, recharging, and testing. The buses will also be equipped with new Recaro Ergo driver's seats, Q-Straint wheelchair tie-down systems, and validated ADA wheelchair ramps.

Furthermore, the buses will undergo exterior repainting, including wheels, bumpers, mirrors, and graphics installation. Advanced vehicle technology systems, such as March Networks camera systems, automatic passenger counter systems, and pre-wiring for farebox and transit management systems, will also be installed.

The project includes mechanical, cosmetic, and system upgrades, with the aim of extending the useful life of the buses. This refurbishment is expected to improve the sustainability and service reliability of the RTS bus fleet.

The contract was awarded under the Washington State DES Contract, and the details of the project were announced on August 5, 2025. For further specifics, direct RTS or CCW communications or press releases might be required, as the publicly available summary focuses mainly on the contract award itself.

This refurbishment project is part of CCW's broader role in the transit industry, providing sustainable transportation solutions and contributing to the extension of vehicle life and improvement of service quality.
