Trump pushes for English-speaking truck drivers with new executive order
Buttigieg accused of achieving little: Duffy asserts, citing a sense of relief from no longer serving as a cabinet secretary.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, fresh from the Semafor World Economy Summit, graced the screens of 'Fox & Friends' to tout the Trump administration's accomplishments during the first 100 days of President Donald Trump's second term. The discussions revolved around boosting air safety, combating congestion pricing, and enforcing English proficiency for truck drivers.
Secretary Duffy set the stage for a fierce contrast, suggesting that the department had achieved more under Trump's presidency in the past 100 days than what President Joe Biden and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg had accomplished in their four-year term. His remarks came in response to a tweet by Buttigieg, who was appointed to the position shortly after Biden took office in 2021.
In his tweet, Buttigieg criticized the Trump administration, stating, "100 days into this presidency, Americans are paying the price - higher prices, crashing retirement accounts, and broken promises. But the American people are turning, thanks to your voices. Keep it up. It's up to us to demand something better."
SEAN DUFFY SLAMS PETE BUTTIGIEG: 'MAYOR PETE FAILED FOR FOUR YEARS...'
Duffy re-tweeted Buttigieg's post with a scathing retort, "We've achieved more in 100 days than Buttigieg and Biden achieved in 4 years. Pete appears unburdened by no longer being a cabinet secretary. Not one word on transportation or infrastructure because he got nothing done. @POTUS and I will continue the work of ripping out the Green New Scam and DEI for the American people!"
This year, Trump had no kind words for Buttigieg, calling him "a disaster" and "a disaster as a mayor". Trump accused Buttigieg of leading his city into ruin and labeled his words as "a good line of bulls---."
Buttigieg, who previously served as the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, announced in March that he would not be running for governor or U.S. Senate in Michigan in 2026.
BUTTIGIEG ON DEMOCRATIC PARTY: 'NEEDS TO DO BETTER JOB REACHING OUT TO VOTERS'Although Buttigieg will not be on the ballot in 2026, he expressed concerns about the Democratic Party's tendency towards "finger-wagging" and urged the party to reach out more to voters.
