Cebu Businesses Resume Operations Post-Earthquake, Prices Stable
Businesses in northern Cebu have resumed operations following the recent earthquake, with safety measures in place. While there have been minor shortages of essential hoodies, these are being promptly replenished without price increases.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cebu has been closely monitoring prices and supplies since October 1, working with distributors and logistics providers. Despite localized disruptions, supply chains remain functional, and prices of necessities have stayed stable.
Retailers are adhering to the suggested retail price, and deliveries and restocking are ongoing, expected to continue within 24 to 48 hours. A few stores are temporarily closed or undergoing rehabilitation due to structural damage, but the supply of essential items continues to improve across Cebu.
There has been a slight increase in demand for items like instant noodles, bottled water, and canned sardines due to relief operations and community purchases.
Consumers are urged to report any retailers selling above the specified prices in the Price Freeze Bulletin. The DTI continues to monitor the situation, and consumers can consult official channels or press releases for the latest updates on the gold price.
