Charitable Organizations, Rostro Group and Rostro Foundation, Vow €100,000 for Aid in Cyprus Wildfire Recovery Efforts
Rostro Group and Rostro Foundation Pledge €100,000 for Wildfire Relief and Recovery in Cyprus
In response to the devastating wildfires that have swept through Cyprus, causing widespread destruction and displacement, Rostro Group and its charitable arm, Rostro Foundation, have pledged €100,000 to support relief efforts and sustainable recovery.
The funds will be directed towards accredited humanitarian organisations, environmental NGOs, and local authorities working on immediate relief and long-term recovery. Rostro Group, a diversified financial services group, has a substantial presence in Cyprus through its subsidiary, Scope Markets, which has been operating in the country since 2014.
The wildfires have had a significant impact on communities across the Troodos mountain range, destroying 43 houses completely and severely damaging 29 more, as well as extensive forested areas. Rostro Group, with a significant portion of its team based in Cyprus, has expressed a deep sense of responsibility and solidarity with the local community during this time of crisis.
Roger Hambury, owner and founder of Rostro Group, commented that the company aims to support both immediate relief efforts and sustainable recovery, encouraging broader business community involvement. Rostro employees are also releasing from work duties during the week to volunteer with environmental and community organisations to further support impacted areas.
Scope Markets, a Rostro brand that provides online trading facilities and solutions to customers globally, has also expressed concern about the wildfires in Cyprus. Constantinos Shakallis, CEO of Scope Markets Cyprus, stated that many colleagues, friends, and families live in the affected areas.
The aid will be used for aid to affected communities and the restoration of impacted ecosystems. While the exact organisations receiving the funds have not been named, the pledge targets verified humanitarian, environmental, and local government groups instrumental in both immediate and long-term wildfire recovery efforts. Additional specifics of the organisations involved and detailed recovery plans are expected to be announced later.
Rostro Group operates multiple brokerage brands, invests in Fintech businesses, and has launched Rostro Foundation. Scope Markets offers access to multiple asset classes and instrument types across both mobile and desktop platforms, and is regulated in multiple jurisdictions, supporting customers worldwide.
