Cities With Exceptional Transport Systems: Krasnodar Secures Sixth Position
In a recent ranking compiled by Ilya Zotov, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of Russia, several cities have emerged as leaders in transport and infrastructure excellence. The ranking, which does not include Moscow and St. Petersburg due to differing budget capabilities, has sparked interest and excitement across the country.
Leading the way is Perm, which has risen to the top spot. The city has focused on modernizing its public transport system, with upgrades to trolleybus lines and the introduction of electric buses. Road improvements and traffic management adjustments have also been made to alleviate congestion.
Chelyabinsk, in second place, has made strides in expanding its tram network and developing new transport hubs to better connect residential areas with industrial zones. The city's efforts to improve road infrastructure are also noteworthy.
Krasnodar, in sixth place, has invested heavily in road construction and expansion, developing new bridges and overpasses to improve traffic flow. The city has also upgraded its public transportation fleet with new buses and trolleybuses.
Rounding out the top 10 are Astrakhan, Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk, Kostroma, and Novokuznetsk. Each city has made significant strides in improving its transport and infrastructure, with a focus on smart traffic management systems, pedestrian infrastructure, and urban mobility and sustainability.
Ilya Zotov emphasised that the list should be used as a reference, acknowledging that there is still much to be done in these cities. He encourages further research for detailed, up-to-date specifics from Ilya Zotov’s rating, official municipal sources, or the primary report for each city.
