Collaboration Announced: Nuro Teams Up with Foretellix for Secure, Large-Scale Autonomous Delivery in the Last Mile
Nuro and Foretellix Form Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Autonomous Vehicle Deployment
Nuro, the autonomous vehicle company known for its last-mile delivery service, has formed a strategic partnership with Foretellix, a leading provider of safety-driven verification and validation (V&V) solutions.
The partnership underscores Nuro's deep commitment to safely commercializing Level-4 autonomous technology at scale across commercial and consumer applications. Sreeja Roy Singh, Head of Systems Engineering at Nuro, stated that Foretellix's safety-driven V&V technology supports Nuro's commitment to safety and accelerates development and commercialization.
Foretellix's Foretify platform provides a unified V&V flow that combines real-world test drives and hyper-scale simulation. The solution enhances Nuro's development and issue resolution process by automatically analyzing driving logs from Nuro test vehicles and replaying multiple variations in virtual testing. This allows Nuro's engineers to pinpoint the root cause of problems more quickly and with less effort.
The collaboration will involve automated virtual testing of the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system with AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware, using Foretellix's Foretify platform and Nuro's advanced simulator. The partnership aims to reduce Nuro's R&D costs and significantly improve the quality and safety of the Nuro Driver.
Ziv Binyamini, Foretellix Co-Founder and CEO, expresses excitement about the partnership with Nuro. "Foretellix shares Nuro's passion and vision for safe autonomy that improves daily life for millions of people," he said.
The companies will also develop an extended library of scenarios for urban environments. Foretellix's use of OpenSCENARIO 2.0 for abstract scenario description and testing automation is critical in Nuro's development process.
Foretellix will be exhibiting at CES from 9-12 January 2024 at LVCC, West Hall - Booth 7017. Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to learn more about the partnership and Foretellix's safety-driven V&V solutions.
The benefits of the partnership are achieved through the automatic generation of millions of relevant and meaningful test scenarios by Foretellix's constrained-random test generator, ensuring proper Operational Design Domain (ODD) coverage and uncovering edge cases that might impose safety risks. The solution systematically measures testing coverage, performance metrics, and safety checks across both virtual testing and physical drives.
The partnership between Nuro and Foretellix is a significant step towards the deployment of autonomous vehicles for last-mile delivery and the commercialization of Level-4 autonomous technology at scale.
