Collaboration between meetNKY, TANK, and Southbank Shuttle offers complimentary transportation services for attendees at the convention
=======================================================================
In an effort to make transportation more accessible for visitors attending major events, meetings, and conventions in Northern Kentucky, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK), meetNKY, and Southbank Shuttle have partnered to offer free transportation to convention attendees.
This partnership comes as the NKY Convention Center prepares to host several significant organizations and events in 2025, including Retail Confectioners International, Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation, MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), the Kentucky Bar Association, and more.
To stay competitive, meetNKY is investing in both the facility and amenities for its guests. This includes a two-year program evaluated in 2026 and involving a $200,000 investment by meetNKY, which is financed by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Gina Douthat, TANK's general manager, stated, "The new partnership with meetNKY will make transportation more accessible to those visiting Northern Kentucky for major events, meetings, and conventions."
Convention attendees visiting Northern Kentucky for meetings, trade shows, and conferences can coordinate with the meetNKY services team to receive a convention pass sticker that grants them free rides on the Southbank Shuttle and other TANK transportation.
The Southbank Shuttle operates on two schedules: a winter schedule from November through March, with services running from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on weekends; and a summer schedule from April through October, with services running from 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. on weekends.
Julie Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of meetNKY, emphasized the economic impact of conventions and meetings, stating, "Convention and meetings bring in thousands of visitors each year, supporting nearby hotels, restaurants, and retail."
In 2024, meetNKY secured over 48,000 future room nights, resulting in a $25 million economic impact, marking a 20% year-over-year increase. The lead volume for meetNKY also grew by 30%, and event organizers reported a 100% satisfaction rate.
