"Comedic Film 'Divorce Insurance': An Amusing Examination of Love's Unpredictable Prospects"
A Fresh Take on Love and Life: The Divorce Insurance
Diving headfirst into the world of divorces in the upcoming 2025 Korean drama, The Divorce Insurance, brings a new perspective to the table. Starring Lee Dong-wook as No Ki-jun, an insurance specialist, who devises a plan for love gone awry, the series takes on a comedic approach to the complexities of romantic relationships. The character, Ki-jun, has been married and divorced thrice, and is all too familiar with the dangers of love that goes south.
Speaking about the shift in mindset, Lee Dong-wook shared, "We should not associate [divorce] with unhappiness or sadness anymore. I think we need a change of perception, because divorce can be another beginning, a new start for an even happier life. So it has nothing to do with unhappiness, and it can actually be a great opportunity to find another, new love."

Joining Ki-jun in this quirky venture are Kang Han-deul (played by Lee Joo-bin), An Jeon-Man (Lee Kwang-soo), and Jeon Na-rae (Lee Da-hee). Each character on this imaginative team brings a unique perspective on the topic of relationship turmoil.
Lee Joo-bin highlights, "People usually think that divorces are something that you should stay away from, something that is bad. But we wanted to talk about how there are so many people who are so scared of divorce that they're hesitant to even take an attempt at marriage."

With a sense of friendship that feels straight out of real life, Dong-wook’s character shares a long-standing bond with Kwang-soo's character. As they navigate the ups and downs of love, their relationship remains tumultuous and profound. Lee Kwang-soo describes their dynamic as a "bromance" with a hint of rivalry, reminiscent of friendships we find in everyday life.
The plot thickens as the team member, Jeon Na-Rae (Lee Da-hee), a financial mathematician, weighs the pros and cons of relationships with a calculated approach. Having divorced shortly after her honeymoon, her pragmatic nature allows her to analyze connections with an unbiased eye, even in the face of classic romantic scenarios. Though she's less susceptible to the traditionally heart-fluttering k-drama scenes, is she truly immune?
Lee Dong-wook and Lee Da-hee assure that the series tackles common romantic themes with a refreshing twist to keep the narrative exciting. The show is directed by Lee Won-suk, who previously worked on films like The Royal Tailor and Killing Romance, and co-directed by Choi Bo-kyung. The Divorce Insurance premieres on March 31 on Prime Video, offering a unique mix of comedy, romance, and self-discovery.
- Lee Da-hee's character, Jeon Na-Rae, who has experienced divorce during her honeymoon, approaches relationships with a calculated approach, leaving viewers curious about her susceptibility to traditional romantic scenarios.
- In contrast to the nervous hesitation people often feel about marriage due to the stigma of divorce, Lee Joo-bin's character in The Divorce Insurance emphasizes the importance of taking chances in love, even when faced with the possibility of relationship turmoil.
- The bond between Lee Dong-wook's character, Ki-jun, and Lee Kwang-soo's character in the series is reminiscent of real-life friendships, with a blend of camaraderie, bromance, and a hint of friendly rivalry, adding a unique layer to the melodrama of typical K-dramas.
