commencement of underwater excavation equipment in the North Baltic Canal from the year 2023
The expansion of the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal is currently in its next phase, according to a report by Frank Behling in Kieler Nachrichten on January 10, 2023. The planned start of underwater work for the expansion has been pushed back by a year, with the work now scheduled to begin in 2023.
Before the underwater work can commence, embankment securing in the "Im Linden" area is a necessary precursor. The planned start of excavation work for the further securing of the embankment in the "Im Linden" woodland during the expansion of the eastern stretch of the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal is scheduled for autumn 2025. The area of the small woodland "Im Linden" in "construction zone D" requires further embankment securing.
The area of the "Im Linden" woodland has been identified as a critical location for the expansion project. The start of the excavation work for the expansion has been planned for this summer, but the embankment securing work in the "Im Linden" area is a prerequisite for the underwater work to begin.

The critical location for the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal expansion, the "Im Linden" woodland, necessitates embankment securing before the underwater work can begin. The embankment securing process, part of the expansion's eastern stretch, involves finance and industry, as well as transportation due to its key role in the overall project progression.
