A33 Asti-Cuneo Motorway Nears Completion

The long-awaited A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway project, a symbol of modern mobility and a change in direction for the region, is nearing completion. The motorway, which is expected to protect the landscape, health, and quality of life in the region, has been a priority for the Piedmont government.

Enrico Bussalino, the assessor for Logistics and Strategic Infrastructure, and Marco Gabusi, the regional assessor for Transport, have emphasised the motorway's significance. They stated that the project represents the idea of modern mobility, aiming to relieve traffic from inhabited centers and panoramic roads in the Asti and Cuneo areas.

The President of the Region, Alberto Cirio, has stated that they have worked with determination and great commitment to unblock the project and complete it. As of August 2025, significant construction activities are ongoing, such as the nighttime bridge launch on the SP7 Viaduct, indicating advanced progress on crucial structures.

The next steps involve finishing assembly and launch of bridge components critical to the motorway’s structural integrity. The installation of the last two spans, which are located in sections not affected by vehicle traffic, represents a crucial step towards the completion of the infrastructure project.

By September, work on the Asti-bound carriageway will be completed with the installation of the last two missing spans. Once this phase is completed, work will begin on the completion of the entire bridge. The new bridge span was installed on provincial road 7 last night.

The motorway project is designed to reduce the traffic of heavy vehicles from the inhabited centers and panoramic roads. It is also intended to protect the landscape, health, and quality of life in an area recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

The completion of the motorway will provide answers to a territory that has been waiting for its completion for too many years. This strategic and symbolic moment marks the turning point in the activities leading up to the completion of the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway by the end of the year. The project aligns with the priority of strengthening the Piedmont infrastructure system and making roads safer.

The A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway project, upon completion, is anticipated to align with the priority of modernizing the transportation industry in the region, contributing to safer and traffic-reduced roads. Once the last two spans are installed on the Asti-bound carriageway by September, the motorway, a symbol of progress, will provide significant improvements in finance, infrastructure, and quality of life for the Piedmont region, part of a larger UNESCO World Heritage Site.
