Starting this weekend and until Monday, passengers in Rhineland-Palatinate are set to experience further train cancellations on several lines. Travelers using the RE1, RB81, and RB83 services between Trier and Koblenz will be using replacement buses instead.
The root cause of these disruptions is an ongoing construction project as part of the modernization initiative. Between May 20 and June 15, work will be carried out on numerous tracks and switches south of Koblenz, along the Rhine. This work will result in alternating full and partial closures between Koblenz and Mainz-Mombach.
According to Deutsche Bahn, individual trains on the affected lines will be canceled between Trier Hbf and Koblenz Hbf over the weekend. Long-distance traffic has already been rerouted. Passengers should anticipate delays when traveling via replacement buses.
