Cracking Down on Illegitimate Construction Workforce - Primary Customs Office, Schweinfurt

The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, in collaboration with cooperation authorities such as the German Pension Insurance and the Foreigners' Authorities, recently carried out a nationwide focus inspection against black work and illegal employment in the construction industry.

On a specified date, a total of 85 officials from the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt inspected numerous construction sites across Lower and large parts of Upper Franconia. A total of 165 employees were questioned during these inspections.

The operation by the customs forces aimed to check whether employers had properly registered their employees for social security, whether employees were receiving social benefits improperly, and whether the minimum wages were being complied with. For foreign employees, it was also verified whether they had a work permit or a valid residence title required for employment.

Numerous violations were detected during the operation. The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt can provide further information about these inspections. Future investigations will focus on stricter enforcement of labor regulations, enhanced monitoring of construction sites, improved collaboration between authorities, and closer scrutiny of subcontractors to prevent illegal employment and undeclared work in the Schweinfurt region and beyond.

These inspections are an important tool for reducing social acceptance of black work and illegal employment. They are also an important step in the detection and punishment of offenses related to black work and illegal employment.

The document related to this inspection is named "20250618_pm_spp_bau.pdf". For inquiries, please contact the press office at the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt. The construction industry is a key focus for the Customs in their fight against black work. The Customs place a particular emphasis on this sector due to its macroeconomic importance and extensive legal and collective agreement regulations. The FKS regularly conducts nationwide and regional focus and special inspections based on a risk-oriented approach.

These inspections serve as a reminder for employers to comply with labor regulations and ensure fair and legal employment practices. The Customs encourage all employers to register their employees properly, pay the correct taxes, and provide the necessary social benefits to their employees.
