Customs office in Braunschweig: Solemn pledge taken upon entrance at central facility
New Recruits Begin Careers at Braunschweig's Main Customs Office
The Hauptzollamt Braunschweig has announced the recruitment of 35 new trainees who will begin their careers at the Main Customs Office on September 1, 2025. The news was originally transmitted via news aktuell.
The recruitment drive includes both the higher and middle customs service. 7 trainees will begin their dual Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) studies in the higher customs service, while 21 trainees will start their training as financial administrators in the middle customs service.
Qualifications for the recruitment include a high-quality academic education with a recognized academic degree or a comprehensive and varied training. The theoretical parts of the higher service are completed at the Federal Administration Academy in Münster, and for the middle service at the training centers of the Federal Finance Administration in Erfurt, Leipzig, Plessow near Pune, Rostock, or Sigmaringen.
The new recruits were welcomed at a ceremony last Monday, where they were appointed as temporary civil servants and Mrs. Senior Government Councillor Kerstin Müller was sworn in as the permanent representative of the Main Customs Office management. However, the name of the current leading representative (leiter) of the main customs office Braunschweig remains undisclosed.
During the event, the new recruits had an opportunity to get a first impression of their future work. This included presentations of various areas such as enforcement, inspection service, financial control of undeclared work, and penalties. They also had the chance to explore deployment vehicles with equipment and witness customs dog Berta demonstrating her skills.
After completing their dual studies or training, the young customs officers can expect to be employed in the most diverse areas of customs, including casework, special units, financial control of undeclared work, and customs investigation. In principle, the CUSTOMS OFFICE takes over all its suitable young talents after they complete their training or studies.
The application process for positions starting September 1, 2026, is open until October 15, 2025. Questions about the application process can be directed to [email protected]. Detailed information on application, employment, training, and study at Customs can be found at www.zoll-karriere.de or www.zoll.de.
Mrs. Senior Government Councillor Kerstin Müller advised the new colleagues that "the baby boomers are leaving - a generational change is taking place - the old are retiring and the young are taking over. You are needed."
The CUSTOMS OFFICE continues to offer training and study places for a secure future in a large federal administration. The new recruits will be contributing to tax revenues, consumer protection, securing jobs, and digitizing administration in Germany.
