On 20.05.2025, the Main Customs Office Frankfurt (Oder) inspected a solar park construction site in Frankfurt (Oder). They found 11 workers suspected of illegal employment without valid residence permits. The inspection revealed that 17 workers were present at the site. Among them, 11 were found to be working illegally. These workers were Ukrainian citizens who had entered Germany on temporary residence permits for tourist purposes. Their employment on the solar park construction site made their stay illegal.

The customs authority, which has extended powers to investigate and enforce against illegal employment, questioned all suspects. A security deposit was collected as part of the criminal proceedings. The passports and residence permits of the suspected workers were confiscated for further processing by the immigration authority.
