Customs Raid in Krefeld Uncovers Illegal Workers, Social Security Fraud
On September 17, 2025, the Hauptzollamt Krefeld, supported by the Federal Police and Krefeld Police, conducted a large-scale inspection near Krefeld's main train station construction site. The aim was to combat illegal employment, ensure fair competition, and protect employees.
Around 60 officers were involved in the operation to check compliance with social security regulations. During the inspection, two individuals without valid residence permits, a Serbian and a Kosovar, were found to be illegally employed and present in Germany. Additionally, two cases of suspected non-payment of social security contributions were discovered. The Financial Control of Black Work, part of the customs administration, is now investigating these suspected cases.
The Krefeld Customs Office, with the support of local and federal police, successfully carried out the inspection. The operation highlights the commitment to upholding labor and social security regulations, combating illegal employment, and maintaining fair competition in the job market.
