Martin Seiler, DB's board member in charge of personnel, exulted, "With the corona package, DB and EVG collectively play a key role in tackling the pandemic's devastation during the gravest crisis. We've demonstrated, in trying times, that intelligent employment and skill-enhancing measures can be conceived."
This harmonious outcome materialized due to mutual compromise, Seiler emphasized, stating, "The agreement is a shared persuasive message in the face of job cuts or short-time work engulfing the German economy."
In late May, EVG, DB, and the Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) reached unity in the "Alliance for Our Rail" to pool resources and extend a collaborative, empathetic response to overcoming the corona-induced turmoil. The newly-sealed collective bargaining agreement is a pivotal step towards implementing the alliance.
