DB Orders 38 Modern Diesel Trains for Southwest Germany

Transport and Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) have signed a €160 million contract for the supply of 38 additional Diesel regional trains. The trains, Coradia Lint models, will be manufactured at Transport's Salzgitter site in Lower Saxony.

The order comprises 14 train sets with 112 seats, part of a 2008 frame agreement, and 24 train sets with 160 seats, an option from a 2011 contract. These modern trains will boast several passenger-friendly features, including air conditioning, a low floor for easy access, and two wheelchair spaces per set. They will also come equipped with monitoring cameras to enhance safety.

The Coradia Lint trains can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h and meet stringent emission standards, with 90% of particle emissions eliminated. Each set will also include suitable toilets and intercom units. The first trains are expected to start commercial service in the Southwest diesel network of Germany in 2015.
