Listen up, speedsters: The Supra is approaching its last lap. At least for now. Toyota is giving us one more chance to revel in its glory with the Final Edition, packed with an extra 101 horsepower. Want the deets? I got'em. ntv.de hooked me up with a hot ride.

These days, there’s plenty to gripe about the Supra, like its close connection to BMW and whatnot. But here's the cold hard truth: when this baby retires, it leaves a massive void in Toyota’s model lineup. One that hurts real bad. So Toyota throws us a bone with the Final Edition—and a few extra bucks, of course. This bad boy packs an impressive 441 horsepower, costing a cool €142,800 after you've already splurged on the Lightweight edition.

Before we dive into the throbbing heart of the Final Edition, we've got to get a feel for the Lightweight Evo, first. And I ain't talking about a new dance move. This sucker tips the scales at a meaty 1,570 kg, despite the “Lightweight” tag. But these tech whizzes fitted the doppelgänger coupe with a double-bubble roof and called it a racing beast. Larger brakes, custom dampers, and strengthened stabilizers are just a few features tailored for record-setting laps.

Now it's showtime! An instructor takes the lead as we familiarly skim through the slightly over four-kilometer track. We're not pressin’ pause on the action just yet; the vehicle’s manual transmission makes it feel even cooler, despite the clunky clutch that rivals a Kia Ceed. Nonetheless, the gear shift is a delight with its heavenly mechanical clicks.

And that engine? It purrs menacingly towards its max revs, but it’s no match for the car's balanced chassis. With its perfect 50:50 weight distribution, the Supra (A90) carves corners like a dream. The racetrack at Parcmotor in Castellolí serves as our battlefield, where turn follows turn, and then comes the straightaway. I may not have the most panache on the track, but the stability control saves my you-know-what more than once.

Now we’re onto the Final Edition, a matte black monster with its mammoth carbon spoiler taking center stage. This intimidating ride features optimized suspension tuning by renowned company KW, with 16 different settings for compression and 12 for rebound. These adjustments ensure optimal lateral dynamics for different tracks. It also boasts strengthened stabilizers and other enhancements inspired by the Supra GT4 customer racing version. The Final Edition's heart is the B58 engine (from BMW, natch) with tweaked intake and engine control, along with an Akrapovic exhaust system with a titanium end muffler.

I'm positively salivating to see how the Final Edition performs with its extra 101 horsepower. The initial laps don't disappoint—it's like someone slipped an extra double espresso shot in my coffee. But Mr. Instructor slams the brakes on the fun when he insists we stick to 180 km/h on the longest straight stretch. Dang it.

Still, the limited edition beast barrels ahead at 571 Newton meters of torque, while the original 3.0L feels puny compared to the muscle cars of today, with their 300+ horses. If Toyota does decide to retire the Supra, it’ll be one tough pill to swallow. But let's hope they don't leave this gap unfilled.
