Derivaat NH3 to Build 120M Euro Gas-Fired Power Plant in Estonia
Derivaat NH3 is set to build a gas-fired power plant, Voyager 1E, in Estonia's Paldiski South Harbor. This project, backed by an 11 million euro grant from the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS), aims to launch a green ammonia factory. The power plant's construction is estimated to cost around 120 million euros, including connections.
The power plant, due for completion in 2028, will play a dual role. It will reduce electricity consumption in the green ammonia factory by three megawatts, making the process more efficient. Additionally, it will bolster Estonia's electricity security of supply. The plant, Voyager 1E, will produce both green ammonia and hydrogen, contributing to the country's green energy goals.
Derivaat NH3 plans to initially fuel the power plant with biomethane but has the flexibility to switch to green hydrogen. The green ammonia plant will generate hydrogen through water electrolysis using renewable electricity. This project is part of Derivaat NH3's vision to transform Paldiski into a future industrial hub for green fuels.
The Voyager 1E power plant project, with an estimated investment of 120 million euros, is expected to be completed in 2028. It will not only enhance the efficiency of the green ammonia factory but also strengthen Estonia's electricity security. This project, supported by a grant from EIS, aligns with Derivaat NH3's goal of making Paldiski a key player in green fuel production.
