Diocese of Alabama's 'Equipping the Saints' Campaign Raises $8.2M

The Diocese of Alabama has successfully concluded its 'Equipping the Saints' capital campaign, raising $8.2 million under the leadership of Bishop Glenda Curry. Launched in the spring of 2023, the campaign surpassed its initial goal of $7.5 million.

The campaign focused on several key areas: congregational vitality, racial prejudice and pilgrimage, and improvements to Camp McDowell. A total of $7.5 million was allocated, with $4 million dedicated to congregational vitality, $2.5 million for Camp McDowell repairs and inclusivity, and $1 million for racial prejudice healing initiatives.

The campaign's impact is already evident. It has funded 223 grants to 72 parishes, benefiting small to medium-sized congregations. These grants have helped strengthen the Church of the Good Shepherd in Montgomery, a significant site for racial prejudice healing and pilgrimage. The campaign's success ensures annual funding for this grant program.

The campaign has also fostered unity and engagement across the diocese. It has connected people and inspired parishes to become more involved in their communities.

The 'Equipping the Saints' campaign has not only met but exceeded its fundraising goal. With $8.2 million raised, it has made a substantial impact on the Diocese of Alabama, supporting vital projects and initiatives that strengthen congregations, promote racial prejudice healing, and enhance Camp McDowell. The campaign's success ensures continued support for these important causes.
