Dr. Sonja Rauner has been appointed as the successor to Christian Rhino at Helaba, effective August 1, 2025, subject to approval from European banking supervisory authorities. She will be joining the Executive Board of Helaba, known as Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen, and will hold the dual roles of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In her roles as CIO and COO, Dr. Rauner will oversee the divisions of Information Technology, Operations, Organisation, and the CIO/COO Office. Her appointment was made by Helaba's Supervisory Board on November 11, 2024.
