ECOC-Echo Seminar in Veszprém: Cities Collaborate for Sustainable Cultural Impact

A seminar focused on the long-term impacts of the European Capital of Culture (ECOC) initiative is set to take place in Veszprém, Hungary, from October 6 to 8, 2025. The event, titled ECOC-Echo Seminar, will bring together representatives from past, current, and future ECOC cities to discuss sustainable urban and regional development through cultural initiatives.

The seminar, co-financed by the European Union's Interreg Europe program, aims to exchange ideas about the sustainable impacts of the ECOC year on cities and regions. It will include expert discussions led by prominent figures such as Tibor Navracsics, former EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Gyula Porga, Mayor of Veszprém. The program also features interactive learning formats and visits to key cultural sites that have shaped the region's development.

Participating cities in the seminar include Chemnitz 2025, led by Coordinator Carsten Richter, as well as Veszprém 2023, Leeuwarden 2018, Novi Sad 2022, Tartu 2024, Oulu 2026, Liepāja 2027, Évora 2027, and Bourges 2028.
