EU receives updated Recovery and Resilience Plan from Romania, submitted to the European Commission for review
The Romanian government has taken a significant step towards securing funding for recovery and resilience investments by submitting the renegotiated National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to the European Commission.
The submission, made by the Romanian Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, on the evening of Friday, September 12, marks the beginning of a formal approval process. The renegotiated PNRR is a comprehensive plan outlining investments and European projects aimed at bolstering the country's resilience and promoting growth.
The PNRR was submitted to the European Commission on September 12, and it is now under review. Following the Commission's formal approval, the ECOFIN Council will make a decision regarding the renegotiated PNRR. This plan is crucial for Romania's recovery and resilience, and its approval will pave the way for much-needed investments in various sectors.
The renegotiated PNRR is not the first plan submitted by Romania. Previously, the government had submitted a plan, but it required revisions to meet the European Commission's criteria. The renegotiated plan is a reflection of these revisions.
The European Commission will carefully evaluate the renegotiated PNRR to ensure it aligns with the EU's recovery and resilience goals. Once approved, the plan will provide Romania with access to a significant portion of the NextGenerationEU funds, which are allocated for recovery and resilience purposes.
In his announcement, Minister Pîslaru highlighted the importance of the renegotiated PNRR, stating, "This plan is a testament to our commitment to ensuring Romania's recovery and resilience. We have worked diligently to revise the plan, and we are confident that it meets the requirements set by the European Commission."
As the approval process moves forward, the Romanian government and the European Commission will continue to collaborate closely to ensure the success of the renegotiated PNRR. The plan is a significant step towards Romania's recovery and resilience, and its approval will have far-reaching implications for the country's future.
