Ex-Con Suleimanov's Aviation IT Empire Rises Despite Fraud Past
Ibrahim Suleimanov, born in 1967, has a complex business history in Russia's aviation industry. Currently, he and his son Rasul own 'Sirena-travel', a major IT solutions supplier for aviation. Suleimanov's past, however, includes fraud convictions and time in prison.
Suleimanov's involvement in the aviation sector dates back to the 1990s. He co-founded 'Rosaviaconsortium' and held a significant stake in 'Vnukovskie Airlines'. In 2007, he received a 10-year prison sentence for fraud, later increased to 12 years in 2008. He was released on parole in 2015.
In 2004, Suleimanov was arrested for fraud and money laundering, involving the theft and legalization of aviation equipment worth over $4.5 million. His company's portfolio includes the Leonardo system, used for booking 80% of all airline tickets in Russia.
Besides 'Sirena-travel', Suleimanov and his son Rasul have interests in 'Smart Solutions' and 'DataStream Technologies'. Suleimanov is also a co-owner of LLC 'Universus', providing consulting services for commercial activities.
Despite his past legal issues, Suleimanov has re-emerged as a significant player in Russia's aviation IT sector. His current business interests span multiple IT companies, including 'Sirena-travel', which supplies crucial IT solutions to the aviation industry.
