Expansion of RDS in Malaysia sees addition of two partner companies
RDS Partnership, a leading Malaysian law firm, has announced the appointment of two new partners - Sharifah Sazita Hamzah and Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman.
Sharifah Sazita Hamzah brings more than 30 years of experience primarily in project advisory, focusing on construction, privatisation, and public-private partnership (PPP) projects. Her expertise covers sectors such as renewable energy, expressways, bridges, airports, and infrastructure across Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. She previously was a partner at Foong & Partners and has worked with several firms in the region.
Sharifah Sazita's focus areas include public-private partnerships, energy, infrastructure, utilities, and public policy. She will head RDS Partnership's Middle East desk and advise clients from the Middle East on projects and investments in Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region. Sharifah Sazita has worked on projects in Malaysia, Qatar, Southeast Asia, Kuwait, Oman, Dubai, Pakistan, Iraq, and Jordan.
Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman has around a decade of experience in corporate, commercial, real estate, and Islamic finance law. Her background includes corporate finance transactions, project financing, conveyancing, and commercial documentation, including debt securities. She has also handled acquisitions, disposals, and procurement deals within public and private sectors, including concession and framework agreements with government entities. Before joining RDS, she ran her own practice and has been associated with notable Malaysian law firms like Zul Rafique & Partners.
Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman's corporate practice includes acquisition, disposal, and complex procurement activities in both private and public sectors. Her focus areas include Islamic finance, real estate, and corporate law.
These appointments aim to strengthen RDS Partnership's corporate and infrastructure practices, particularly in technology, energy, manufacturing, Islamic finance, construction, and sustainability law. RDS Partnership added five other partners in February and recently added banking expert Teo Siang Ly from Christopher & Lee Ong in April this year.
With the addition of Sharifah Sazita and Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman, RDS Partnership now has a total of 26 partners. The firm's expertise and capabilities are poised to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients across various industries.
