Shell has taken a significant step towards promoting electric mobility in the Berlin and Brandenburg region by installing multiple new fast-charging stations. These stations, equipped with ultra-fast DC chargers, are strategically located, including along major highways such as the A10 and near urban centers.

The new charging points are compatible with all mainstream electric vehicles, offering quick and convenient charging for EV drivers. Key features of Shell's fast-charging stations in this region include fast charging capabilities, compatibility with multiple charging standards, modern station amenities, and sustainable energy sourcing.

With fast charging capabilities, EV batteries can be significantly recharged in about 20-30 minutes, providing an 80% charge. The stations support charging standards such as CCS (Combined Charging System) and CHAdeMO, catering to a broad variety of electric car models.

Modern station amenities include easy-to-use payment systems (contactless and app-based), parking spaces, and shelter areas. Shell is committed to renewable electricity supply for their charging points, minimising environmental impact.

These expansions are part of Shell’s broader strategy to facilitate EV adoption by improving accessibility and convenience of fast charging infrastructure within and around Berlin and Brandenburg. The company plans to further expand this network in the coming years, particularly at service stations and in cooperation with partners like Rewe.

While Tesla has developed an extensive network of charging points around its Giga Berlin factory in Brandenburg, Shell’s network operates independently and typically involves commercial charging points offering fast, universal EV charging beyond proprietary Tesla connectors.

Paying for charging at these locations can be done via the Shell Recharge app, charge card, or contactless payment. Shell promotes these new locations for their user-friendly operation, with each location offering four to six charging points.

Shell's goal is to make charging as simple and reliable as possible, particularly where people are already on the go. The company's commitment to making electric mobility practical for everyday use is evident in its ongoing expansion of its fast-charging network across Germany. Currently, Shell Recharge operates over 1,600 fast-charging points in Germany, and this number is set to increase with the addition of 32 new charging points at seven locations in the Berlin and Brandenburg region.

Environmental science and technology are integral to Shell's new charging stations, as they incorporate fast charging capabilities and compatibility with multiple charging standards such as CCS and CHAdeMO. Finance is a crucial aspect as well, with Shell promoting convenience and ease of use through the Shell Recharge app, charge card, and contactless payment options.
