"Fifty thousand individuals have now journeyed on the city's public transit bus"
In the picturesque town of Waldkirch, the community bus service has reached a significant milestone - 50,000 passengers! This achievement is a testament to the service's growing popularity and the support it receives from various organisations.
The KONUS guest card and the SchwarzwaldCard organisations have been instrumental in the bus's operation. From the next timetable change in November, this service will be supplemented by two additional services to address the high demand, which often sees vehicles filled to capacity.
Due to the increasing popularity of the service, vehicles are often full, making spontaneous availability for the bus service usually available, but not guaranteed. To cater to passengers who may be turned away due to overcrowding, a policy has been put in place. Turned-away passengers will receive a ticket for a free follow-up ride to the destination stop.
The bus stop "City Center" has undergone a barrier-free renovation, ensuring that the service is accessible to all residents of Waldkirch.
The community bus in Waldkirch is not just a public transport service; it's a community effort. Around 30 volunteers, a bus company, the Senior Citizens' Council, and the city administration work together to keep the service running smoothly.
Recently, a resident from Kollnau was the 50,000th passenger and was rewarded with a gift basket. This milestone not only celebrates the service's success but also looks forward to its future, with the upcoming cooperation with two additional services starting in November.
The community bus in Waldkirch continues to be a valuable asset to the town, providing a reliable and accessible transport option for its residents.
