Upon their arrival around 1:30 am, the fire department found that the industrious employees had already extinguished the flames with a powder extinguisher. Nonetheless, the emergency responders didn't relax. Equipped with hoses and breathing protection, they inspected the area using a thermal imaging camera to locate hidden hotspots. Specifically, they focused on the electrical distribution, dousing any stubborn embers.
At first, it was uncertain whether the forklift's batteries were damaged, potentially leaking battery acid. To take precautions, the firefighters erected a barrier of oil-binding agent around the rain inlet to safeguard against any contamination. They then skillfully maneuvered the forklift away from the hall's wall using a fire engine and a cable sling. Accessing the battery block, they disconnected the vehicle power source for safety. Luckily, the battery block had fortunately escaped unscathed.
The Rohrbach fire department dispatched a force of 14 individuals and 2 vehicles to the scene, engaging in follow-up operations for approximately 2 hours. They received support from the St. Ingbert police department.
