First Private Coal Mine in North East Region Inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the Namchik-Namphuk coal mine in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, marking the first legal private commercial coal mining operation in the North East region. The project, expected to generate Rs 4,500 crore in revenue for the state, is set to catalyze industrial growth, energy security, and job creation, significantly contributing to Arunachal Pradesh's economy.
The Namchik-Namphuk coal mine, located in Changlang district, was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The project aims to ensure responsible resource utilization and empower local communities with development and employment opportunities. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed gratitude for the Centre's consistent support and highlighted the project's long-term benefits for the people of the state.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision of an 'Atma Nirbhar Bharat' and integrates the North East into India's larger energy and infrastructure network.
