On 11.06.2025, the Financial Control of Illegal Work (FKS) in Emmerich conducted a review day focused on 'horticulture' in Kreis Kleve. Around 25 officers checked nearly 70 individuals, suspecting illegal residence and wage withholding.

The review day was part of a broader effort by FKS to combat illegal work and residence. In 2024, they inspected nearly 570 employers and over 6,000 individuals, leading to 5,340 investigations and total damage of around 10.5 million euros. This included administrative offenses resulting in fines of 1.37 million euros and criminal proceedings with fines of 1.12 million euros and over 28 years of imprisonment.

On 14.05.2025, a separate review found nine foreign employees without valid residence and work permits in a Kreis Kleve logistics company. Investigations were initiated for suspected illegal residence and employment without required permits for these nine employees. Further investigations were also initiated against their employers for suspected aiding and abetting illegal residence, wage withholding, and violating notification requirements.

The FKS continues to work diligently to combat illegal work and residence in Kreis Kleve. The review day on 11.06.2025 and the subsequent investigations highlight their commitment to ensuring compliance with social security obligations, minimum wage compliance, and proper receipt of social benefits. The suspected illegal activities and the initiation of further investigations underscore the need for strict enforcement of these regulations.
