Ford Recalls 800K Vehicles: Fuel Injector Fires & F-150 Axle Bolt Breaks

Ford has announced two major recalls affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles worldwide. The first involves a potential fuel injector issue that could lead to underhood fires in their cars, while the second concerns faulty rear axle hub bolts in F-150 pickup trucks that may break and cause crashes.

In July 2025, Ford recalled 694,271 cars globally due to a potential fuel injector issue that could lead to underhood fires. The cause of the issue is fretting wear between the hub and axle splines, leading to corrosion and accelerated wear. Ford is not aware of any injuries or accidents associated with this condition.

Ford Motor Company has also recalled 103,174 F-150 pickup trucks due to faulty rear axle hub bolts that could break. The affected vehicles come with the Trailer Tow Max Duty package and a 9.75-inch heavy-duty axle, manufactured between 2 January 2023 and 21 May 2025. Ford will replace the left and right rear axle shaft assemblies for free, featuring revised spline geometry and fasteners.

Ford F-150 pickup truck owners with models from the 2021 to 2023 model years are being recalled between 18 August 2025 and 22 May 2026 to have the left and right rear axle driveshafts replaced free of charge due to a defect in the rear axle pivot bolts. The rear axle hub bolt may break due to fatigue, leading to a loss of torque transfer to the wheel end and increasing the risk of a crash. Customers might notice a clicking or rattling noise if the rear axle hub bolt loosens or breaks.

Ford urges owners of the affected cars to contact their local dealerships to schedule the necessary repairs. The company is committed to ensuring the safety of its customers and will cover the costs of the recalls.
