David Cameron, the ex-Prime Minister of the UK, has jumped ship and is now on board at global legal powerhouse DLA Piper as a consultant.

In a move expected to elevate their clients' global strategic game, Frank Ryan, DLA Piper's global co-CEO stated that "nabbing David Cameron only strengthens our ability to advise our clients on navigating tricky political waters and seizing opportunities where they do business."

Rumors of Cameron's talks with the law firm emerged last month, and his appointment was officially announced Thursday.

Cameron held the post of Prime Minister from 2010 to 2016 and more recently was the UK's foreign secretary from 2023 to 2024.

Charles Severs, the firm's other global co-CEO, added that Cameron's broad political experience and policymaking prowess will be a formidable asset to DLA Piper's senior team. Severs also noted that Cameron's contributions will significantly boost the firm's ability to deliver top-notch legal services worldwide.

By revenue, DLA Piper is the foremost law firm in the UK, and in 2024, it became the first firm to surpass £3bn and $4.2bn globally over the financial year.

The firm has a well-established government affairs practice group with an array of prominent political heavyweights on retainer, including Labour's Lord David Blunkett, who joined in March of last year, and former US Senator Richard Burr.

With Cameron's addition, DLA Piper's arsenal of political clout only grows stronger. His insights on global leadership and policymaking will allow them to offer more nuanced and informed legal counsel to a diverse range of clients.
