Ever mentioned Carla Bruni at the Hoxton Hotel in Paris? Forget about getting a table, the staff practically flips you tickets to meet the former First Lady of France, who happens to be a renowned winemaker!

Carla and her hubby, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, teamed up with Jean-Guillaume Prats from Bordeaux's Cos d'Estournel and businessman Stéphane Courbit, the 56th richest French guy, to buy the fabulous Château d'Estoublon in Provence.

Step right up, cause Château d'Estoublon is no ordinary winery. Picture Carla in a cool olive green jumpsuit, like a chic paratrooper, while Prats is channeling his inner Bordelais-arrogant dude in a pink shirt. I mean, what a sight for sore eyes!

The property is so amazing that it left Carla with a "vibration" she just can't forget. She fell in love with the place during the height of the pandemic in 2021. Times were tough, but these powerhouse vignerons saw an opportunity and grabbed it with both hands!

They launched their hit Rosé vintage, Roseblood, in 2021. Since then, they've been on a spending spree, acquiring a couple of other stunning estates, Domaine de Cantarelle in Coteaux Varois en Provence and Villa Beaulieu in Coteaux d'Aix en Provence. These prized possessions produce their premium wines under the 1489 label and the Roseblood blanc.

Carla isn't just selling her image here like a typical Parisian diva (well, maybe a little). She's deeply involved in the winemaking process and is learning on the job: "I'm like Victor's pupil." It's a far cry from her past life as a model and First Lady, but she's digging it!

Prats says Carla brings an "artistic and creative aspect" to the brand, which is essential in a cut-throat industry. And let's face it, with the Bruni-Sarkozy name, they can definitely open some champagne bottles!

The wine market may have been turned upside down by the pandemic, but Château d'Estoublon is practically breaking through it. It's a bold move, but nothing these two high-powered politicians can't handle, right?

Then there's the pink bubble bursting – a common fear in the wine world. But Carla isn't worried: "Rosé is a feminine wine, something light and fresh you can drink at lunch." A wise woman, indeed!

In the end, the Bruni-Sarkozy name does have its drawbacks – they both had legal troubles in 2022 and 2023, but Carla insists it has no impact on their business. In fact, Prats claims the rosé is flying off the shelves!

Looking to the future, there's been talk about adding sparkling wine to their lineup. So watch this space! Will the Bruni-Sarkozys continue making history with their wine empire? Only time will tell!
