German Forest Fire Module Moves to Castile and León After Spain Success
The German Forest Fire Module, having successfully helped extinguish a major fire in Spain's Extremadura region, is set to relocate. After a brief pause, it will travel around 300 km to the province of Castile and León to assist in another fire. This move comes as the previous fire was largely put out by Friday.
The module, which has been deployed for three days, was initially focused on the northern area of the fire, where the highest intensity was recorded. Their efforts, along with those of local emergency services, led to the control and treatment of thousands of square meters of heated and burned soil using hand tools and water from tank fire trucks.
On Saturday morning, the module will establish a field camp in the city of Puebla de Sanabria to tackle nearby fires in the region. However, their deployment is planned to end at the beginning of the following week, with a return to Germany scheduled afterwards.
Following their successful mission in Spain, the German Forest Fire Module is set to continue their international aid by relocating to Landes, France, to combat another forest fire. This demonstrates their commitment to global cooperation in managing natural disasters.
