gewobau is set to commence construction of 113 apartments in Rüsselsheim's 'Quartier am Ostpark' neighborhood this year, reflecting the city's high demand for housing. Mayor Patrick Burghardt highlights the city's mix of commercial and living spaces, focusing on future challenges like climate protection and digitalization.

Rüsselsheim's appeal lies in its central location, excellent transport connections, affordable rents, and comprehensive infrastructure. gewobau, with around 6,600 apartments, plans to invest €47 million in new construction and modernization in 2025. The 'Quartier am Ostpark' neighborhood has potential for over 450 apartments, with at least 25% publicly subsidized and offered at moderate rents. gewobau CEO Torsten Regenstein emphasizes the diversity of living in Rüsselsheim and the company's commitment to quality, fair rents, and future-oriented neighborhoods. The city is also developing 65 hectares of the Eselswiese for residential and commercial use, and seeking a developer for the remaining plots in 'Quartier am Ostpark' to consider a diverse mix of housing units based on a competition result. Additional housing potential exists in parts of the 'Motorworld' in the city center and on further freed-up Stellantis plots in western Rüsselsheim.
