Global Law Firm Announces Partner and Director Promotions for 2022

Globally, our site showcases 54 lawyers as partners in its 2022 class.

A leading global law firm has announced the promotion of 54 lawyers to partner and director positions worldwide, effective January 1, 2022. The promotions span 11 practice areas, reflecting the firm's strategic focus and growth in various legal sectors.

In the United States, Denton Nichols and Blake Redwine were promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in Houston and Dallas respectively. Nathan Baum and Geraldine Young were promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Dallas and Houston. Additionally, Eric Green was promoted in the intellectual property practice area, based in Austin.

Across the Atlantic, Veit Sahlfeld was promoted in the banking and finance practice area, based in Hamburg, Germany. In London, Marianne McMahon was appointed as general counsel, while Anna Rudawski, Matthew Buckle, James Lockwood, and Fiona Henderson were promoted in various practice areas. Rafe Schaefer, Louisa Roe, and Helen Fairhead were also promoted in the litigation and disputes, real estate, and antitrust and competition practice areas respectively.

In Australia, Kate Green, Harriet Oldmeadow, and Nick Sinclair received promotions in litigation and disputes, banking and finance respectively. In Canada, a significant number of lawyers were promoted across various practice areas, including Robin Acworth, Véronique Barry, Scott Boucher, Brian Chau, Matthew Choi, Jenna Anne de Jong, Russell Dufault, Alison FitzGerald, Caroline Jodoin, Jonathan Lafrance, Brigitte LeBlanc-Lapointe, Jennifer McPherson, Brian Milne, Fahad Siddiqui, Joshua Sprague, Nikita Stepin, Tim Stewart.

Veit Sahlfeld was promoted in the banking and finance practice area, based in Hamburg, while Bernd Dreier was promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in Munich, Germany. In Asia, Rachel Chan and Daniel Ng were promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Hong Kong, and Alberta Yan was promoted in the corporate, M&A and securities practice area, based in New York. Alex Zekkos was promoted in the banking and finance practice area, based in London, and Joseph Drapalski was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Los Angeles.

Lastly, Rebecca Abou-Chedid was promoted in the projects practice area, based in Washington, D.C., and Rebecca Winthrop was promoted in the bankruptcy, financial restructuring and insolvency practice area, based in Los Angeles. Claudia Posluschny was promoted in the employment and labor practice area, based in Munich, and Justin Coddington was promoted in the tax practice area, based in Houston. Annabelle Wheeler was promoted in the litigation and disputes practice area, based in Munich/London.

Gerry Pecht, the Global Chief Executive of the law firm, congratulated the promoted lawyers and praised their industry knowledge, business acumen, and innovative solutions. The promotions come as partner compensation reaches a record high of $1.12 million in the United States, with the median partner earning approximately $675,000. The legal industry has seen a rise in "super points" compensation systems, bonuses tied to retention, and wider gaps between highest- and lowest-paid partners.

While specific demographic data for 2022 partner promotions is not detailed, top global law firms increasingly emphasize diversity and inclusion in partnership ranks. Firms ranked highly for culture and inclusion balance strong financial performance with associate satisfaction and diverse partnership compositions. Lawyers in South Africa receive promotions to director instead of partner.
