In a significant move towards regional development, Kazakhstan Aluminum Smelter (Kazakhmys Corporation) and the Ulytau region's administration have signed a memorandum outlining specific plans for the growth of the village of Zhaiyrem. This collaboration aims to foster sustainable growth and socio-economic advancement in the village.
Infrastructure Development
The plans include several infrastructure projects, such as the improvement and modernization of local roads to enhance connectivity. Utilities like water supply, sewage systems, and electricity networks will be upgraded to ensure reliable and quality services. Housing infrastructure will also be developed to accommodate the growing population and improve living conditions.

Healthcare facilities will be expanded and upgraded to improve medical services for residents. Cultural and sports facilities will also be developed to support community engagement and well-being.
Community Investments
Kazakhstan Aluminum has already invested over 5 billion tenge in Zhaiyrem's development in recent years. The "Zhaiyrem Damu" corporate fund will manage the funds provided by Kazakhstan Aluminum for these projects.
The recent investments have resulted in the construction of a new mosque, the renovation of a cultural house, a sports center, and other social facilities in Zhaiyrem. Internet connectivity will be provided in the Old Zhaiyrem area, and sports initiatives will be funded.
Additional Investments
Funds will be allocated for capital repairs of residential buildings' basements and roofs in Zhaiyrem. The trade union committee will collaborate with Kazakhstan Aluminum to construct a multi-apartment building in the near future.
Under the new memorandum, funds will be allocated for winter fuel supply in Zhaiyrem, communal services maintenance, and social payments to invited doctors. A new concentrating plant was opened in Zhaiyrem last year, and development of deposits in the village is ongoing.
Alexander Khmelev, the General Director of Kazakhstan Aluminum Smelter, expressed his commitment to supporting the socio-economic development of Zhaiyrem and the region. The memorandum envisions this development, including the mentioned infrastructure projects, as a step towards a brighter future for the village and its residents.
Financing for these developments will be provided by Kazakhstan Aluminum's "Zhaiyrem Damu" corporate fund, focusing on infrastructure, social facilities, and community investments. The growth of industries such as energy and business are anticipated as a result of these strategic investments, further fostering socio-economic advancement in the Ulytau region.
The cooperation between Kazakhmys Corporation and the Ulytau region's administration aims not only at the growth and development of Zhaiyrem but also at enhancing the overall financial standing of the region through the growth of industries like energy, business, and finance.
