Katjes Group Expands into Luxury Goods with Bogner Acquisition

The Katjes Group, a family-owned business known primarily for its confectionery and personal care brands, has announced its strategic entry into the luxury goods segment with the acquisition of 60% of Germany's largest family-run luxury clothing brand, Bogner.

Bogner, specialising in sports and leisurewear, boasts nearly €200 million in net sales and has remained profitable. The acquisition marks a significant step for Katjes, aiming to diversify its brand portfolio and strengthen its position in the European consumer goods market.

Tobias Bachmüller, managing partner of Katjes International, expressed confidence in the company's ability to profitably develop Bogner as a luxury apparel brand while maintaining its family-owned company ethos. This move aligns with Katjes's long-term strategy to broaden its presence across distinct consumer goods categories and add a prestigious luxury brand to its portfolio.

The acquisition was financed through corporate bonds, and the Bogner family retains a 40% stake, ensuring continuity and ongoing involvement. The Katjes Group, which owns brands such as "Bübchen" and "Theramed," plans to leverage its experience from successfully growing personal care brands in this new venture.

In the previous year, the Katjes Group generated a turnover of 393 million euros with EBITDA at 45 million euros. The acquisition of Bogner further enhances the value of the Katjes Group, expanding its portfolio beyond its original businesses.

However, the purchase price for the acquisition was not disclosed by Katjes. The Bogner Group achieved a net turnover of nearly 200 million euros in 2024/25, remaining profitable throughout the year.

The acquisition is a bold move by Katjes, betting on growth in the luxury goods segment. The company aims to develop Bogner as a luxury apparel brand, leveraging its experience in the personal care sector and its proven ability to profitably grow brands outside of its original business.

With this acquisition, the Katjes Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to expansion and diversification, further solidifying its position in the European consumer goods market.

"What will be the focus of Katjes Group's expansion in the luxury goods segment, following their acquisition of Bogner?" "This acquisition in the fashion-and-beauty industry by Katjes Group, a family-owned finance business, will surely influence their future lifestyle and business ventures."
